Sputnik was bred by our good friend and mentor, Mary from BaliChaton Cattery in Washington State who has been breeding Balinese cats for more than 40+ years and is the oldest Balinese cat breeder in the U.S. if not the world. Her lines are exclusively only Balinese and mainly of the Seal and Blue color points which is why her cats are darker than ususal due to the concentration of the darker Seal and Blue points in the pedigree.
We are very fortunate to have met Mary in person many years ago in our endeavor and goal of working with the Balinese cat breed and preserving the true old-style breeding lines.
Many of the Balinese cat archives you see in our website (we have many more to publish) were handed down to us by her in the common interest of preserving and protecting Balinese cat breed history. Those same archives were handed down to her by Balinese cat breeder pioneer Sylvia Holland herself! You will no find them anywhere else but here at Azureys Cats.
We are very blessed and thankful to God to have acquired Sputnik who is a complete outcross to all our cats at Azureys and the majority if not all of the breeding lines here in the U.S. Sputnik is truly a rarity. Mary has taken very good care of her breeding lines and like us is very meticulous to whom acquires her lines.
Sputnik is a sweet and big muscular boy. He did come to us as an adult so he took some time to get used to us as we didn't raise him but he learned to love us and likes the attention we give to all our cats. He is a great sire as he does a great job in caring for queens when breeding and has produced very healthy, robust, and sweet tempered kittens.
We have many goals for Sputnik in our breeding program to continue preserving and producing outcrosses and future lines in the Balinese breed. He is an ideal candidate due to his very rare and unique lines.
